The Pennsylvania House of Representatives has passed a $39.8 billion budget, focusing on future savings and investments in various sectors, as reported by Rep. Perry Stambaugh (R-Perry/Cumberland). The budget includes significant allocations for early childhood education, infrastructure, public schools, and state police.

Rep. Stambaugh supported most parts of the budget but opposed funding for the University of Pittsburgh due to ethical concerns regarding research practices. "Pitt’s refusal to cease using aborted remains is unconscionable and grossly disrespectful," he stated.

The budget plan also involves depositing $2.5 billion into the Rainy Day Fund for potential future economic challenges. Additionally, it directs over $1 billion in federal relief funds towards nursing homes, pandemic response efforts, road and bridge projects, and emergency medical services.

“I’m thankful this budget reflects the need to save money for the future when the state may encounter an economic downturn. The proposal lays a foundation for years to come,” Stambaugh commented.
