A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Juniata County Election Department on February 5, 2025. The request was made by Central PA News, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The request was made under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law, 65 §66.1 et seq., and specifically asked for information regarding all candidates running in the upcoming election. As a media organization, we are interested in gathering and reporting news to the public, holding public institutions accountable, and providing transparency.
The specific details requested about each candidate include their first, middle, and last names; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; party affiliation; as well as contact information such as address, phone number, and email address.
As members of Central PA News, we believe that access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
We await a response from the Juniata County Election Department regarding this request.
