State Rep. Frank Ryan (R-Lebanon) said he is excited to have been appointed the head of gubernatorial candidate state Sen. Doug Mastriano's transition team.

Mastriano, the Republican nominee for governor of Pennsylvania, announced that he has selected Ryan to serve as chairman of his gubernatorial transition team, according to a release.

“As we prepare for victory on Nov. 8, I am pleased to announce that I have selected Rep. Frank Ryan as the chairman of our transition committee,” Mastriano said. “Frank has all the best leadership qualities to serve as chairman and will ensure that we can begin restoring freedom in Pennsylvania on my very first day in office."

Ryan is a retired Marine Reserves colonel and certified public accountant who currently serves as representative of Pennsylvania's 101st Legislative District, according to his website. He graduated from Mt. St. Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, where he earned a doctorate's degree, summa cum laude, in 1973. He went on to earn a master's degree in business administration from the University of Maryland. He was first elected to the state House of Representatives in 2016, where he now serves on the Aging and Older Adult Services, Finance, State Government, Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness, and Military and Veterans Facilities committees.

"I am honored to be chosen to lead the transition team for future Pennsylvania Gov. Doug Mastriano," Ryan said in the release. "We will begin by contacting Governor Wolf's staff immediately to conduct preliminary meetings that will ensure a smooth transition of power in Harrisburg following the election on Nov. 8. Also, we are identifying other well-qualified candidates to join the Mastriano Transition Committee, including leaders who are prepared to join us in this mission to restore freedom and prosperity in our beloved Commonwealth.”

Mastriano defeated eight challengers to win the Republican nomination in Pennsylvania's gubernatorial race, according to Ballotpedia. Mastriano and Democratic nominee Josh Shapiro will face off in the Nov. 8 general election.

Mastriano is a retired Army colonel who currently serves as the state senator for Pennsylvania’s 33rd District.
