State Senator Judy Ward and State Representative Kerry Benninghoff have announced the allocation of $650,000 in Local Share Amount (LSA) grants to three municipalities in Mifflin County. The funding is aimed at enhancing infrastructure and improving the quality of life for residents.

Benninghoff expressed satisfaction with the collaborative effort, stating, “I’m glad Sen. Ward and I were able to work together to secure this highly competitive funding for the citizens we serve in Mifflin County. These grants are important investments in the safety and quality of life for residents of all ages.”

The grant distribution includes $200,000 to Armagh Township for a new boom mower, $150,000 to Granville Township also for a boom mower, and $300,000 to Lewistown Borough for sewer line cleaning and manhole inspection.

Ward emphasized the significance of the LSA grant program by saying, “The statewide LSA grant program is a vital tool for municipalities as they seek to improve or repair critical water, sewer, or transportation infrastructure or meet other unique needs.” She acknowledged that while not all projects receive funding due to competition, those funded will significantly benefit their communities.

These grants are administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency responsible for overseeing Pennsylvania’s economic growth programs. Funding for LSA grants comes from gaming revenues.
