State Senator Greg Rothman and Representative Perry Stambaugh have announced the approval of state grant funding for several projects in Perry County. The funding aims to support infrastructure improvements in the area.
The Bloomfield Borough Water Authority is set to receive $370,000 to replace bottlenecked water lines. Additionally, Perry County will receive $233,450 on behalf of the Liverpool Area Recreation Association for the rehabilitation of the Jan A. Deitzler Memorial Pool located in Liverpool Borough. Howe Township Municipal Authority will also benefit from a grant of $99,620 to construct a force main for the proposed Buffalo Crossing Development.
“These projects are important to Perry County. I am glad to help bring taxpayer dollars back to the county to support them,” said Rothman. He added that "the impact of these infrastructure improvements will be felt for many years to come," and expressed gratitude towards Senator John DiSanto for his previous efforts and advocacy on these projects.
Stambaugh highlighted the significance of these upgrades, stating, “The upgrades being made through this grant funding are key to expanding the county’s business and recreational opportunities.” He emphasized that they will ensure quality drinking water and help grow jobs.
The Commonwealth Financing Authority approved these projects on Thursday. The grants are funded through Pennsylvania's Local Share Account (LSA) program, which is supported by revenue from the state's Gaming Act rather than taxpayer dollars.
