More than $256,000 in grants will be distributed to first responders in Perry and Juniata counties. The funding comes from the PA Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, as announced by Representative Perry Stambaugh.

A total of twenty fire companies and ambulance squads within the 86th District are set to receive these grants. The Office of the State Fire Commissioner administers the program, which allows recipients to use the funds for various purposes including facility upgrades, equipment purchases or repairs, debt reduction, education and public outreach, training, or recruitment and retention.

“Firefighters and those who provide emergency medical services put themselves on the line every day for our townships and boroughs,” stated Stambaugh. “Most do so as volunteers. These grants are one small way to support their tireless efforts and boost public safety.”

The specific grant amounts awarded to each organization in the district range from $10,000 to $20,000. Some of the recipients include Beale Township Fire Co., Blain Volunteer Fire Co., Citizens Fire Co. No. 1 of Newport, Duncannon Fire Company No. 1, Landisburg Volunteer Fire Co., Liverpool Volunteer Fire Co., New Bloomfield Volunteer Fire Co., among others.

Recipients must file their grant agreements with the Office of State Fire Commissioner to receive their allocated funds.
