State Rep. Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin) is partnering with the Pennsylvania State Police to assist constituents with the free replacement of license plates that have become difficult to read.

“A registration plate is deemed illegible when one or more numbers or letters cannot be recognized from 50 feet or if the registration plate shows any blistering, peeling, discoloration or loss of reflectivity,” said Benninghoff. “We’re hosting two opportunities to have those plates replaced.”

Copies of forms MV-44 and MV-46 will be available for plate holders to fill out, and members of Benninghoff’s staff will handle getting them to PennDOT for submission. Here are details on the two events:

• Thursday, Sept. 26 - Brown Township Building, Reedsville (4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.).

• Saturday, Oct. 12 – Centre Hall Elementary School, Centre Hall (8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.).

“We really appreciate the Pennsylvania State Police, Brown Township and Penns Valley Area School District for helping us get this accomplished,” Benninghoff added. “It will be a quick turnaround for anyone operating a vehicle with an illegible license plate and dealing directly with local law enforcement allows us to avoid the usual plate replacement fee associated with replacement.”

Questions about this or any legislative issue should be directed to Benninghoff’s Bellefonte district office at 814-355-1300 or his Reedsville office at 717-667-1175.
