State Senator Greg Rothman and Representative Perry Stambaugh have announced that over $3.3 million in state assistance has been approved for water and sewer projects in Perry County. The funding was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development.
The approved projects include the replacement of a water main and the lining and replacement of a sanitary sewer main in Liverpool Borough, with a total of more than $981,000 allocated for these improvements. Additionally, Penn Township Municipal Authority will receive $540,000 for a waterline replacement, and Oliver Township Municipal Authority will receive over $122,000 to rehabilitate portions of the sanitary sewer collection system located near a railroad crossing. Newport Borough Municipal Authority will receive more than $423,000 to install new sanitary sewers along South Second Street, and the Borough of Duncannon will receive over $254,000 for waterline replacement along Ann Street. Lastly, Millerstown Borough will receive nearly $426,000 for sanitary sewer system improvements.
Senator Rothman highlighted the importance of these projects for public health and quality of life, stating, "I am happy to bring this assistance to Perry County, where it will be used to improve infrastructure and help ease the burden on local taxpayers."
Representative Stambaugh emphasized the long-term benefits of these infrastructure improvements, saying, "The upgrades being paid for with this funding will help ensure quality water and wastewater services for communities across the 86th State House District. These improvements will provide benefits not only for residents today but also for our children and grandchildren."
These investments in Perry County's water and sewer infrastructure will have a significant impact on the community, improving public health and ensuring access to clean water and efficient wastewater services. With this funding, the county will be able to address necessary upgrades and replacements, enhancing the quality of life for its residents.
