In Mifflin County 125 inmates were incarcerated in the third quarter of 2022, a 2.3 percent decrease from the quarter before, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections.

James Michael Zook and Michael Rogers Kauffman, 21-year-olds, were the youngest inmates in Mifflin County in the third quarter of 2022.

Robert Tallon and James E. Bryner were the oldest at 76-years-old.

Incarceration rates in Pennsylvania have increased dramatically, imprisoning more than seven times the number of people in 2019 than in 1970.

Sentencing practices in Pennsylvania were found to have overwhelmingly impacted people of color.
