The annual pilgrimage to Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Centralia will take place on Sunday, August 21. The pilgrimage is hosted by the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia. The schedule includes Prayers of the Third Hour and Traditional Marian Hymns at 11 a.m.; Divine Liturgy with Metropolitan Archbishop Borys Gudziak and concelebrating bishops at noon; living Rosary led by Bishop Ronald Gainer at 2:30 p.m.; Akafist Prayer to the Dormition of the Mother of God at 3:30 p.m.; and a candlelight procession with the Icon of Our Lady of Pochaiv followed by the Moleben to the Mother of God at 5 p.m. Additional activities include discussion on the war in Ukraine, the refugee crisis and the role of the Church at 2 p.m., Confession from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., veneration of the icon and holy shroud, and the blessing of religious items at 4:30 p.m.

A Caregivers Day of Prayer and Care will be offered on October 22 from 11:45 a.m.-4 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Mechanicsburg. This day is for men and women who care for family members, neighbors and friends with chronic illness, age issues, mental or physical challenges, rehabilitation, addiction, grandparents raising grandchildren, and distance care due to COVID-19. The Caregivers’ Day of Prayer and Care was developed by Church volunteers and members of the Cumberland/Perry Deanery to support and honor you in the important work you do providing daily attention to those in special need of care, termed “ordinary holiness” by St. John Paul II. The day begins at 11:45 a.m. with registration and lunch, and features the Office of Aging; guest speaker Carol Morel of the Diocese’s Formation for the Ministry of Spiritual Direction; a prayer service and blessing of hands; dessert and a Q&A session led by St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish’s Caregivers’ Support Group; bingo and cupcake decoration. “Life After Roe: Creating a Culture of Life in Pennsylvania” is a pro-life speakers’ forum hosted by the Respect Life Committee of St. Catherine Labouré Parish on Saturday, September 10 at 9 a.m. After months of misinformation regarding the Dobbs decision, this event will present medical, social, legal and spiritual truths about abortion from a Christian perspective. The Mental Health Ministry at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Mechanicsburg is offering two types of spiritual support groups: a group for individuals who are experiencing mental illness, and a group for family members and friends of those experiencing mental illness. Meetings are now being held on the second and fourth Wednesday evenings of each month. We will gather in the Bayley Conference Room for open discussion, and then move to separate locations for the Spiritual Support Group meetings. The Surviving Divorce program will be held at Good Shepherd Parish in Camp Hill, on Tuesdays beginning September 13. Surviving Divorce was created to bring hope and healing to those who have experienced the pain of a broken marriage. This program is for the newly separated and divorced, as well as those struggling with issues many years later in order to help answer questions, restore hope and begin authentic healing. The Surviving Divorce program will take place at St. John the Baptist Parish in New Freedom beginning September 7 at 6:45 p.m. in the parish’s St. Elizabeth Center. The 12-week program brings hope and healing to those who have experienced a broken marriage. It includes 12 video presentations featuring a psychologist, priests and personal testimonies from Catholic men and women. Topics covered include shock and grief, anger and forgiveness, money issues, dealing with children and a former spouse, and annulment and remarriage. The program is based on the teachings of the Catholic Church and is open to anyone who needs comfort, counsel, and clarity after separation or divorce. There is no charge for the program. “Stewardship 22 Conference,” hosted by Stewardship: A Mission of Faith, will take place September 14 and 15 at the Stone Gables Estate in Elizabethtown. This year’s theme is, “Wake Up! The Beginning Experience Team for the Harrisburg Diocese has booked Camp Kirchenwald in Lebanon County for a Beginning Experience Weekend, November 11-13, 2022. The ecumenical Beginning Experience weekends are an approved program designed for those suffering the loss of a spouse through death, divorce or separation. Hundreds of persons have been helped to move towards successful, productive, happy lives by attending one of these weekends. The weekend is led by persons who have lost a spouse through death or divorce and are trained in facilitating a weekend. Each Beginning Experience Team is certified by the International Beginning Experience Organization. Beginning Experience is your Church at work to provide help, healing and spiritual restoration. Celebrating 50 years of service in the community, Morning Star’s Shooting Star 5K Run and Walk for Life will be held at Harrisburg’s City Island on Saturday, September 17. The run and walk is the second of two fundraising events Morning Star holds each year to support their no-cost services to moms, dads and families facing unplanned pregnancies. Last year, sponsors, runners and walkers helped to support 523 moms who chose life for their babies! The Respect for Life Committee and Knights of Columbus Council 10194 of Mary, Gate of Heaven Parish in Myerstown will host a bus to the Pennsylvania March for Life on September 19. A bus from Elite Coach will depart from the parish at 8 a.m., with an additional pick-up at St. Paul the Apostle Parish in Annville. Participants will arrive at the state Capitol for the rally at 11 a.m., and march one mile around the Capitol complex for the noon march. Registration is open for Crusader girls’ fall softball in Lancaster. Assembling teams for 10U, 12U, and 14U for the fall 2022 season, and seeking to form an 8U team if enough girls are interested. All home games are played at St. Leo the Great in Rohrerstown. As a feeder program for Lancaster Catholic, the program accepts girls from any parish in Lancaster County.
