On July 11th, the West Perry School Board appointed Mr. Richard Kitner to the board seat vacated by Mrs. Crystal Summers. Mr. Kitner will be serving the residents of Region I (Bloomfield Borough, Centre Township, and Saville Township).
Mr. Kitner wanted to share the following with the West Perry Community:
I am a lifelong resident of the West Perry School District and part of a family that has had three generations graduate from West Perry High School. Both my father (1970) and my mother graduated from West Perry, with my mother being part of the very first graduating class in 1965. I graduated in 1988, and I have a daughter who graduated in 2007 and a son who graduated in 2021. So my roots run deep within the district, and I will always bleed green and white.
With the support of my wife, Heidi, of 23 years, and my children, I look forward to serving our district’s children, teachers, and administrative staff as well as our community to the best of my ability.
I have a business degree from Slippery Rock University and spent 25 years with Rite Aid in the Information Technology department. I then spent one year through the pandemic as Juniata County School District’s I.T. manager, where I ran the board Meetings via Zoom. Being involved in those meetings and working with the admin staff, I gained a lot of knowledge on how a school board runs. Currently, I am back to working on the Rite Aid account as a contractor.
I have always given considerable time to the children in my volunteer life. I have been a youth director/pastor for over ten years and have been a baseball, soccer, and softball coach. In addition, I have volunteered at the school for everything from field trips to being the High School Marching Band Roadies Chairperson.
For me, it has always been about the kids, not just mine, but all children. I am here to serve, and I will serve our students, teachers, school district, and community to the best of my ability.
