PCCA Hosts Fall Art Exhibitions

Perry County Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Oct. 5.

Perry County Council of the Arts (PCCA) is currently displaying several art exhibits, which showcase the creative talents of local artists of all ages living in Perry County and throughout Central PA.

Running through January 15, 2022, at PCCA Gallery, Artisan Marketplace is a special holiday shopping show, featuring locally and regionally made fine art and handcrafted items by emerging and professional artists. Visitors can shop for unique, handmade holiday gifts at every price range, including handcrafted jewelry, ornaments, pottery and ceramics, woodworking, fiber art, glass, original paintings and photographs, and more. Located at One S. Second Street, Newport, PCCA Gallery is open 10-4, Wednesday-Saturday.

Participating artists include Karen Alleman, Loysville; Deb Arthur, Newport; Connie Betz, Duncannon; Craig Bomberger, Harrisburg; Judy Bouder, Liverpool; Toby Bouder, Liverpool; Lori Campbell, Etters; Beck Emerick, Halifax; Lynn Fry, Mechanicsburg; Chris Gallo, Harrisburg; Evgeny Krayushkin, Calvin; Bonnie Lorey, Enola; Michelle McBurney, Halifax; Valerie Moyer, Beaver Springs; Marilyn Paul, Northumberland; Carolyn Pio, Newport; Deena Preston, Newport; Lynne Reeder, Duncannon; Amanda Rife, Harrisburg; Judith Shughart, Mt. Holly Springs; Jill Smith, Carlisle; Jacob Smith, New Bloomfield; Missy Smith, Newport; Harry Spilker, Camp Hill; Kathy Spilker, Camp Hill; Don Uvick, Camp Hill; Karen VanNewhyzen, Grantville; John VanNewhyzen, Grantville; and Hyeyon Wilson, Harrisburg.

Also, on display this fall is PCCA’s Art Uplifts outdoor art exhibit. Currently installed at Millerstown Community Park along the river path through October 24, Art Uplifts consists of more than 25 yard signs that feature all new artwork from PCCA member artists, as well as some talented student artists, whose work was showcased in the virtual Youth Art Day 2021. PCCA created this special outdoor exhibition at the height of the pandemic in 2020 to safely engage the public in art when indoor events and programming were limited. Art Uplifts will travel to Little Buffalo State Park to be displayed from October 25 to November 21 along the Blue Ball Trail.

Participating artists include Amiah Barner, Greenwood High School; Craig Bomberger, Harrisburg; Judy Bouder, Liverpool; Cailey Glatz, Greenwood High School; Biruta Hansen, Liverpool; Cynthia Holleran,

Newport; Bonnie Lorey, Enola; Evgeny Krayushkin, Calvin; Kathleen Meglio, Loysville; Donna Mitchell, Carlisle; Madelynn Smiley, Susquenita Elementary School; Carolyn Pio, Newport; Don Uvick, Camp Hill; Spencer Watts, Greenwood High School; and James Wheeler, Halifax.

Throughout the year, PCCA also features the work of local artists at various local businesses in the area, on a rotating basis through its Art on Tour program. Locations where PCCA art can be viewed include Buffalo Brew, Newport; Farmers Daughters Café, New Bloomfield; Pennian Bank, Newport; Perry County Chamber of Commerce, New Bloomfield; and Sisson-Boyer Eyecare, Newport.

Most of the artwork in these exhibitions is available to purchase. All proceeds support local artists and Perry County Council of the Arts’ community programming.
