Rep. Perry Stambaugh has announced that more than $773,000 in state grants will be distributed to several projects in Perry and Juniata counties through the Small Water and Sewer Program.
“Investing in these critical infrastructure systems will protect public health and strengthen the resilience of our local communities,” Stambaugh said.
The funding will support a range of water and sewer improvement projects across the 86th State House District. Duncannon Borough will receive $125,000 to replace over 1,000 feet of aging water main pipes. The Mifflintown Municipal Authority is set to get $423,469 for upgrades at Clearview Dam, which include resealing concrete joints, patching surfaces, addressing a void in the slab, securing rip-rap lining at the spillway’s end, and renovating internal pipe and valve systems.
New Buffalo Borough is allocated $75,000 to install a grinding auger for removing solids from wastewater. This project aims to boost system capacity while preventing effluent from being returned to the Susquehanna River. The borough also plans to add a larger backup generator so that its plant can operate fully during power outages. Newport Borough Water Authority will receive $150,000 for replacing about 1,000 feet of water main along Walnut Street.
The Small Water and Sewer Grant Program provides financial assistance for construction or repair work on water supply systems, sanitary or storm sewers, and flood control projects.
