Delaware Township has received a $1.65 million grant from the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) through the state’s Multimodal Transportation Fund, according to an announcement by Rep. Perry Stambaugh (R-Perry/Juniata).
The funds will be used for a full reconstruction of 1.6 miles of Black Dog Road. This road is considered an important route that connects commercial and agricultural areas to U.S. 22/322. One facility on Black Dog Road is described as a critical national infrastructure supply site for manufacturing influenza and childhood disease vaccines.
Planned upgrades include widening the road, replacing undersized culverts, strengthening the roadway base, and paving to accommodate large trucks and farm equipment.
“This investment will significantly improve safety, reliability, and access along Black Dog Road, which serves as a vital connector for our local economy,” Stambaugh said.
Multimodal Transportation Fund grants are available for projects involving streetscapes, lighting, sidewalks, transportation connectivity, and transit improvements. The CFA operates independently within the Department of Community and Economic Development.
