State Representative Kerry Benninghoff, in collaboration with the Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority, is organizing a shredding event aimed at helping residents dispose of old paperwork safely. Scheduled for Saturday, May 13, the event will take place from 8 to 11 a.m. at the authority’s Bellefonte headquarters located at 253 Transfer Road.

“We’re teaming up to host a paper shredding event next Saturday, May 13, from 8-11 a.m. at the authority’s Bellefonte headquarters at 253 Transfer Road,” Benninghoff stated. “It’s a good time to declutter your house when it comes to paperwork that you no longer need or have to keep.”

The event allows participants to place items in the trunk or truck bed of their vehicle, which will be unloaded by employees of the authority. The service is free for Centre County residents, though businesses are not eligible to participate. It is also advised that materials are loaded into disposable containers, as no containers will be returned to participants.

“The paperwork should also be loaded into containers you do not need to have returned to you,” Benninghoff added. “No plastic will be accepted, and the event is only for Centre County residents, not businesses.”

For further information regarding the event or other state government issues, residents are encouraged to contact Benninghoff’s Bellefonte office at 814-355-1300.
