Lawmakers, including Policy Committee Chairman David H. Rowe, Representative Kerry Benninghoff, and Representative Dallas Kephart, are set to hold a hearing to address the proposed prison closures in Centre County. The hearing, titled “The Impact of Prison Closures in our Communities,” will examine Governor Josh Shapiro’s plans to shut down SCI Rockview and Quehanna Bootcamp.
Testifiers at the event will include notable figures such as Representatives Kerry Benninghoff and Dallas Kephart. John Eckenrode, President of the Pennsylvania State Corrections Officers Association, and Greg Scott, President and CEO of the Centre County Chamber of Commerce, will provide their insights. Josh Paul, Legislative Director for Senator Dave Argall, is also scheduled to testify.
The hearing is scheduled for Monday, April 14, at 2 p.m. and will take place at the Ramada by Wyndham State College Hotel & Conference Center.
