FOIA Request to Perry County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
Central PA News, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has submitted a request under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law, 65 §66.1 et seq., for information regarding candidates running in the upcoming election.
The request specifically asks for a list of all candidates, including their first, middle and last names; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; party affiliation of the candidate; and all contact information for each candidate. The latter includes address, phone number, and email address.
As members of the media, we at Central PA News believe that access to public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as media professionals.
