More than $360,000 in grant money will be allocated to support first responders in Perry and Juniata counties, according to Representative Perry Stambaugh. The grants are part of the PA Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and the state Office of the State Fire Commissioner. The funding, generated from slot machine gaming, will assist fire companies and ambulance squads in the 86th District.

Stambaugh acknowledged the dedication and sacrifice of firefighters and emergency medical service providers, many of whom serve as volunteers. He emphasized that the grants are a way to support their tireless efforts and enhance public safety.

The grants can be utilized for various purposes, including facility upgrades, equipment purchases or repairs, debt reduction, education and public outreach, training, as well as volunteer recruitment and retention.

A total of 24 fire companies and ambulance squads in the 86th District have been named recipients of the grants. Some of the organizations receiving funding include the Beale Township Fire Dept., Blain Volunteer Fire Co., Central Juniata EMS, Citizens Fire Co. No. 1 of Newport, Delaware Township Fire Co., and Duncannon Fire Company No. 1, among others.

The funding amounts for each recipient are contingent on the submission of grant agreements to the Office of State Fire Commissioner.

This initiative aims to provide crucial support to the first responders who work tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of their communities.
